Failed in under 100 hours of runtime I installed this in a Chevy truck with small block. The 36 year old OEM distributor was worn and leaking oil up into the rotor area.It worked ok, though I think the vacuum advance or the weights weren’t correct. With 4* base timing, it would cause the engine to ping. I actually had to set the base timing less than 0* to get it to not ping under heavy load.Otherwise it worked fine for about 100hrs of runtime (have an hour meter on the truck) and then left me stranded…
Won’t last ; no peace of mind – you’ll always wonder when it will leave you stranded….. I’m glad others received a good unit. I thought I did as well, seemed to be nice solid quality and more importantly dropped in and fired up immediately. Plug n play, R to R. Been in for approx 3 weeks (maybe 50 miles on the distro). Took my granddaughter to get something for dinner last night and it just died. Subsequent testing this AM revealed 12v to the unit but no spark. Went back home again and grabbed my old stock HEI, the one this distro replaced, and started to replace components. Sure…
