Quick and pretty rugged, but controller takes a minute to get used to,
Customer Video Review Length:: 1:46 Mins
I’ve been a fan of RC cars since I was a little kid when I got my Radio Shack Renault 5 Turbo (yep…I’m old). As a result, I gladly accepted an offer to receive a discounted sample of this car in exchange for me taking the time to evaluate it and share my opinions with you in the hopes that it can help you as you do your shopping. In short, I think it’s a lot of fun and pretty robust. I personally probably wouldn’t pay the (current as I type this) $73 for it, but I can’t say that’s a bad price. At $50, I think it would be a very good deal.
The video just shows off the car for a little bit and hopefully displays a bit of its ability to handle uneven surfaces and also go fast. I know it’s tough to get a sense for speed in a video of a neighborhood that isn’t yours, but the car is pretty quick. It’s not mind-blowingly fast, mind you, but it is quick.
When it first arrived, I was concerned about the tires because they just feel like loose rubber. They aren’t inflated, nor are they very rigid. In practice, though, that hasn’t proven to be an issue. Only time will tell if they hold up, but so far over the past month, they’ve done well.
I really like that the battery in the car is rechargeable. I do wish that you could recharge it in the car itself with a cord, versus having to remove the battery to charge it. Even so, it’s a huge improvement over the 9V battery and multiple C cells that I had to put in my first car when I was a kid.
Be sure to have four AA batteries on hand for the remote, as they are not included. Speaking of the remote, I love the steering wheel aspect of it, but I wish that the wheel was oriented differently relative to the throttle trigger. When holding the controller, I naturally hold it like a pistol with the trigger moving perpendicular to my body. That puts the wheel at 90 degrees to me, which isn’t natural for me. I wish that the wheel was rotated around the body of the controller by 90 degrees so that I could move the throttle forward and backward in the direction that I want the car to move while being able to spin the wheel right and left. I almost dropped it a star for that, but given all of the other good qualities, I think it deserves the full five.
The remote has always synced up with the car very quickly, and I’ve only had the remote lose contact with the car once – and I’m pretty sure that I was past the stated 50-meter range. So, I’ve been happy with the connection between the controller and the car.
The speed dial on the controller doesn’t seem to do much on mine. It’s either quick…or quick. There’s probably some difference in the acceleration, but I haven’t really noticed much. I’m not complaining, though, as I like how it performs. I’m just saying that dial might not do much for you, either.
I did flip the car once…part of the video that I didn’t show. 🙂 In the video, the yellow strip on the side walk is tape that I’ve put on the edge of one of the concrete slabs that has started to rise a bit and not be level. I hit that ledge at high speed and flipped the car. I tell you that in order to mention this – I didn’t notice any damage at all. I was nervous that I had scratched it up or broken something, but it still looks new. I’m very pleased with how it held up to that.
I really think that kids would love this. I joke in the video about being glad that no kids came out while I was using it (okay, I was serious…), but I know the kids around me would get a kick out of it. It really is pretty fast, and it’s easy to control once your brain gets used to the orientation of the steering wheel – that just took me longer because I’m older and used to driving a car, which kids won’t be. I also think it’s fun for adults. Heck, I’ve had a blast with it. 🙂 Only you can decide if it’s worth whatever the current price is, but I think that it performs well and is fun to use.
If you have any questions, please feel free to leave me a message and I’ll respond as quickly as I can. Thanks!

Very funny,
In my opinion, for what this RC Car lacks in size, it makes up in power, control, and durability. It is relatively small so it is great for bringing it to the park or just on the go. When I first pulled the trigger I was shocked by how this buggy took off, kicking up dirt. Surprisingly, it was able to hand full speed turns on most surfaces, and very fast controlled turns on most other.
