The Flex-a-lite Trimline fan, when used as a primary fan, can free up wasted horsepower and increase gas mileage by eliminating the drag of the stock belt fan. When used as an auxiliary fan or pusher, this unit can provide additional cooling for air conditioning, or in an engine prone to overheating.

The biggest advantage so far is about 3-4 miles per gallon better gas mileage than with the stock viscous fan I installed this fan and a Flex-a-lite 31149 controller on a 94 GMC Sonoma with a 4.3 V6 engine. I used the provided push through-the-radiator plastic retainers to install it to the radiator since there was no practical way to use metal brackets to install it. I had only to remove the top fan shroud to have adequate access to install the retainers through the radiator with their nuts and the fan to the radiator. With the 31149 controller I have the fan switch on at about 210 degrees and on…
Should of done this a long time ago!! Well worth it. Noticeable throttle response and horsepower improvement. And it appears to have improved the in town MPG by at least 3 mpg in my 1997 F150 with the 4.6 L V8
Seems to be plenty for my 4. 3L v6 … Seems to be plenty for my 4.3L v6. I have it set to come on at 210 and cools it down fast.
