Mr. Gasket High Performance Thermostats eliminate the huge swings in coolant pressure that plague lesser thermostats at high rpm, when coolant temperature and pressure can battle for control of the thermostat and prevent it from opening at the designated temperature. Fully compatible with GMs, Fords, and AMCs, they open at 180 degrees every time, regardless of engine rpm, and their high-flow design and brass and copper construction eliminate the damaging effects of cycling when you’re stuck in stop-and-go traffic.

Maintains a very constant temp under heavy loads Excellent in all respects. I have been having some issues with a 1969 Ford 428 Cobra Jet engine maintaining a constant temp and hitting the high side of where it should be. Heavy loads would pull from 195 -210 under load and then drop to 185 at idle with dual electric fans, (2000cfm x 2) – That is with a 180 Thermostat. This high flow t-stat holds a very constant 175-180% even under extreme loads. I will be able to balance a bit better with fan control adjustments. Nice not to have the…
Works great and brought temps down I dropped this right into my Pontiac 350 to help keep the temps a few degrees cooler on super-hot days. My running temps dropped about 10-15 degrees F but still stayed in the 180-190 range. It works as intended and is clearly flowing more coolant than the little stock ones you’ll get at the parts store.
Works, But Not Quite as Advertised I installed this in my 1976 Mustang Cobra II as a replacement for a faulty thermostat. With the broken unit, the engine was reaching up to 235 degrees at idle. I flushed the system, installed this thermostat, then promptly refilled and burped the line. My temp is now showing anywhere from 205-210 degrees. Not sure if I got a faulty unit or if that’s just how hot my 302 runs. I’m just hoping that when the scorching AZ summer rolls around, I won’t have to switch this out again.
