Considered the safest and greenest oil plug available, Smart-O plugs reduce oil leaking out of your vehicle and into the environment. Uses high-performance sealing technology and patented anti-leak and anti-vibration mechanism. Designed with an O-ring that expands upon contact with oil, acting as a seal to prevent leakage and creating resistance to the plug coming lose from vibrations from the engine. O-ring reduces need for overtightening. Aluminum washer acts as bushing to reduce metal to metal contact. Head-markings for quick plug identification. Product Features
- Anti-leak and Anti-vibration function: seals the oil pan from the inside and counteracts vibration. The high-tech O-ring material expands upon contact with engine oil.
- Engine and Oil Pan Protection: the seal and anti-vibration mechanism reduce risk of engine damage due to catastrophic oil loss caused by loss of drain plug. The special alloy exerts less wear on threads.
- Faster installation: the SmarTorqª simple and unified torque setting system and quick plug identification system allows a more effective working process.
- Re-usable: the plug can be reused multiple times. The same goes for the robust O-ring which is a permanent seal saving cost for new gaskets replacement with every oil change.
- Eco-friendly: reduces risk for oil leaks, less material waste due to re-usable seal, black coating is free of harmful Cr6, so parts can be easily recycled.
Amazing!! 1/2-20 thread pitch!!!! Old big 3 plug ðð»ðð»ðð»So right off the bat they don’t list what the thread pitch is and I almost didn’t buy it, it’s 1/2-20 gm and the rest of the big 3 used this for eons. I had a leak from my drain plug I couldn’t stop on a Pontiac 400 oil pan. Switched a few different plugs and gaskets through it and nada, even changed the pan: still leaked with new pan!!!Ordered one of these plugs and its sealed up nice and tight. I’m buying a second one for a spare to have around. I’m done buying part…
It fixed a problem that nothing else did. I built a ’64 Shelby Cobra Replica from a company called Factory Five. I put a Ford Racing Crate Engine (5.0 Coyote) in it and needed to use a low profile all aluminum Moroso Oil Pan. From the start it leaked from the oil plug. Nothing I did would stop it. I tried new plugs, tightening, loosening, tape, sealent, Sealing washers, and the leak would always return. I was afraid I was going to have to pull and replace the pan. I ran into this product, and for less than $10 is absolutely…
Great idea but seems to need further development and testing. Great idea but seems to need further development and testing. The O-ring threads past the lugs in pan, therefore not effective as a seal… The O-ring is missing after one oil change thus is now no different than original plug. (7.3L IDI, 1990 Ford)
