Like most people, you probably think all thermostats are alike. But Stant brand thermostats are different. They’re the thermostats you ask for by name. And the superiority of Stant thermostats shows in the way they consistently outperform the competition. They are, quite simply, the best engineered thermostats in the world and here’s why. The heart of the Stant brand thermostat is the ELAC heat motor. The unique properties of the heat motor result in a consistent and precise response to the cooling system’s needs. This is achieved through the use of a precisely formulated, thermally expansive wax fill that is calibrated to operate within OEM requirements. The Stant heat motor is powered by a precisely formulated thermal responsive wax pellet in a heat conducting copper cup equipped with a stainless steel piston inside an elastomeric boot. The exact length of the stainless steel piston assures the prompt and precise operation of the thermostat valve. Each manufacturing process is rigidly controlled with world-class quality controls. Then a 100% calibration is conducted for each heat motor to guarantee quality and performance. Finally, the heat motor is placed in a stainless steel assembly consisting of a valve, flange, bridge and spring. The completed assembly provides a securely sealed, heat responsive valve that keeps engine temperatures within original equipment specifications. Our reverse poppet thermostats are engineered with a self-cleaning, self-aligning stainless steel valve. It’s no wonder Stant is the original equipment choice of many automakers. So why take chances with anything less? Buy the world’s best engineered thermostats from Stant.

It fits… and the price was good. I have a 1990 Chevy K2500 pickup with the 350 engine and this is a perfect fit. I’ve never checked prior thermostats to see if they are opening at the proper temp but I’m guessing it does. I’m in the high desert with some really hot days… and even hotter pavement… so my engine seemed to be hotter than I liked so I dropped down to the 180-degree and it seems to be running much more normal now. For about 5 bucks you can get this and a Fel-Pro 35062…
Great product. Stant delivers Quality I like to use the 180 instead of the 195 because my engine normally runs hot (not a defect, just the way it is). I like Stant– they are a good product. I always make sure I stick the thermo in a pot of hot water to make sure it opens. The one and only time I did NOT do this, (aftermarket thermo) it almost blew up my engine, and I had to rush to the bus stop covered in grease (everyone moooved away from me- LOL) to go to the parts store and get a replacement , while my car sat in my parking…
but honestly I hate that they never put gaskets with these 5 stars, but honestly I hate that they never put gaskets with these things
