B&M 45044 Precision Sport Shifter

B&M’s Precision Sport Shifter offers a dramatic improvement in shifting performance, due in large part to the reduction in the stick’s travel (or ‘throw’). Using their decades of experience, superior designs, and extremely durable components, B&M re-engineered the stick and its pivot point for better leverage and to reduce the distance that the knob end must travel to engage the gears. The result is a short throw shifter that should provide smooth, precise shifts for hundreds of thousands of miles, with less driver fatigue and a more professional feel. The shifter is CAD-designed and engineered as a direct bolt-in replacement, so it can be installed easily in about an hour, and function properly with the factory boot, insulation, and console surround. It features a fully isolated upper stick, a spherical pivot bearing, and it accepts the stock knob.

  1. Should have been the factory shifter I’ve waited a few weeks before posting as I wanted to get some miles on the shifter and give an accurate review.Title says it all, gone is the loose and vague factory shifter, should have installed one years ago, Easy install overall, does take some getting used to, there is a lot more effort into shifting now and fifth and sixth need an even firmer push, but wow, you know when you are in gear and what gear by feel, about 1/2 shorter shifts or so. Used the solid mount option and did not…

  2. One notchy shifter! Put this in my 1999 FRC and used the optional hard mounts. Huge difference, harder to throw around but more precise and positive. I know for sure when I’m in first now, all the gears really snap into place. The pivot is higher and the stick is shorter than stock, so it feels more like half the travel rather than the advertised 2/3. Installation was easy. Only thing I really don’t care for is it has a clacky sound when engaging some gears. Not bad, just noticable. Would definitely do it again.

  3. B & M Short / Sport Shifter This isn’t the first time I’ve bought this product. I have bought many B&M products in the past. If I bought another brand of shifter it generally made noise and ultimately I’d return the product or have to repurchase a replacement it with a B&M shifter due to my mistake. Many short/sport shifters make noise and they forwarn you that you might experience extra noise due to it’s performance characteristics.Fortunately, that is not the case with the three or four shifters…
