C5 Corvette Headlight Bronze Gear Fixes Head Light Motor with Failed Nylon Gear Fits: All 97 through 04 Corvettes

One of the issues most C5 owners will have to deal or have dealt with is the headlight motors or more specifically the nylon main gear which will fail at some point. The signs are clear: noisy operation, failed up/down operations from time to time and finally complete lose of operation leaving you with just a running motor or a locked up motor.

More times then not if you are having headlight issues it is the main nylon gear it just is not designed to take repeated operations like the rest of the system. Our replacement bronze gear will end the common failed nylon gear for good and should leave you with a quiet long lasting headlight motor.

The kit will include everything (except tools) to complete one headlight nylon to bronze gear replacement. Included in the kit is the bronze gear, rubber isolator, bonding adhesive, seal gasket, silicone grease and complete instructions for all 97-04 C5 Corvettes.

This listing is for one kit for one headlight. Please see our other listing if you are needing two kits for both headlights as our dual combo listing will save you $5 over ordering them one by one.

  1. The gear was fine, very heavy duty The gear was fine, very heavy duty. It will last a lifetime. But, the epoxy glue was a problem. About three weeks after I replaced the gear, the headlight motor stopped working properly. I took it apart again and found that the casing for the gear was separating and the glue was mushy. I don’t know if I got some grease on the glued edges – I don’t think so – but the glue didn’t hold. I did the whole operation again with a different source of epoxy and the light works fine. I would still…

  2. Exact replacement but you need youtube to see how it’s done instructions weren’t great but after watching a youtube video of someone else doing this repair I was able to get it done. Even if you are mechanical plan on spending most of your day finishing this. The product itself seems very solid with a metal gear replacing the plastic, if it wears out I will be back to update my review…NOTE: THERE ARE MANY YOUTUBE VIDEOS COVERING THIS, WATCH ONE OF THOSE BEFORE STARTING

  3. Perfect – easy replacement Perfect fit. Easy to overhaul. Worth paying $100 less than new motor. Arrived today. Cleaned, lubed gears, overhauled, tested with drill motor, closed out all in about 2 hrs. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist. If you can remove motor from car, you can do this. Take your time, clean, lube, and close up and you will be fine. If other motor goes out, I will buy a second one.
