  1. Another 5 stars for charging batts in cars that sit around! My cars sit most of the time. I started using this CTEK MXS 5.0 six months ago to extend the life of an old battery & keep a new one, well, like new. I’ve now added a cig plug voltage reader to confirm how well the battery is charging, and keeping that charge. This charger added about a tenth of a volt “top off” charge to my latest “new” battery.   2. Great charger After reading the reviews and having tried some other chargers I decided to give this one a try. I wanted something that was smart, capable of low amps for floating and maintaining and could put out some amps for quicker charging than other smart chargers. To test this I turned on the headlights of my ’77 MGB and ran the battery down to zero.   3. Jay Leno recommended so… My Optima charger wouldn’t completely charge my Optima battery so I did some research and found a video by Jay Leno recommending CTEK as the best. It completely charged the aging battery (don’t buy one, see my review) in relatively few hours.
