fit fine into the dust cover Used this starter as a “swap” on my 1999 trans am. 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.0L Fits a 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.0L Vortec perfectly and starts so much faster than the original. Make sure that the starter connection wires are not touching each other or the heat shield after you install the new starter. Reinstall the heat shield because the solenoid will not last very long when exposed to heat. You will need 13mm and 8mm sockets to remove the starter from the engine and the connection wires on the starter solenoid.
