SLP offers a 160° Thermostat with the low-temp thermostats it dramatically reduces operating temperatures, while increasing thermal efficiency and your engine’s performance in the process. Racers know that a cooler running engine is a better performing engine. This new thermostat replaces the factory unit, allowing coolant to circulate at lower engine temperatures, keeping the engine cooler.
NOTE: Not legal for use on pollution controlled vehicles. NOTE: This thermostat fits late model 2009.5 Pontiac G8’s with the water pump housing on the driver side (when looking at the front of the engine).

    Excellant Product to Keep GM LS motors cooler, March 29, 2014

    This thermostat is actually used in an LS-2 Corvette. The OEM thermostat is 195 degrees, but in parades, the engine temp climbs to over 220 degrees. This is not good for the engine or auto transmission. The installation of this 160 degree thermostat solved our parade temperature problem. This product also allows the engine and trans to operate much cooler. We saw max temperatures no higher than 195 degrees on a 2 mile parade route on a 80 degree day. The cooler transmission oil temperature will allow the fluid to last longer by not breaking down, and that is better for the clutch pack and everything else in the auto trans. This thermostat should be able to be used in all or most “LS” family motors. It is an easy install- 2 10mm bolts on the thermostat housing on the right front of the motor. These LS motors are on all ’97 to 2013 Corvettes, late model LS equipped V-8 Camaros and Firebirds, Cadillac CTS-V, and every LS equipped V-8 equipped GMC and Chevy light pick-up and SUV, and Cadillac Escalade from 2001 to present. Cooler operation is better

    The thermostat is stamped “MotoRad” and is nothing but merely a standard brand product being sold at a higher price. Buy the MotoRad thermostat elsewhere for HALF the price!

    Besides that, it does what it’s supposed to do, open at 160 degrees! Works great in my LS2 powered Jeep Rubicon.
